The Foundations of The Human Restoration Project

  • Nourishment and ending the disease cycle ( a big topic which includes eating vibrant life force foods, and reducing sugar, refined carb and sugary desserts and beverage consumption)
  • Harnessing the power of the human mind to rid yourself of the lies you may mistake for truth about yourself and the world.
  • Developing the power of Free Will to chose with wisdom (over choosing out of fear, and self loathing)
  • Move your body, every day, some times strenuously ~ sweat and be free!
  • Restore a deep and abiding relationship with The Earth. The Earth made you, and The Earth will keep you whole. There is absolutely no way around this. Over protecting yourself from the elements will make you weak.
  • Listen very carefully and respectfully to the language of your flesh, it does not lie and is always trying to heal you. Ignore and suppress this language at your own peril.
  • Spend some time every day with out your phone, lap top, iPad, etc...(don't get me started on this one I am jumping, red hot, passionate about the consequences of people turning into Zombies) Why can't we shut the phone off for even 15 minutes a day? Zombie or not Zombie..you decide.
  • Examine the contents of your mind as often as possible. Just because you have a thought does not make it true!
  • Begin to consider your posture. Upright, easily moving bodies will evolve and become very subtle, intuitive and healthy. Stiff, junked-up, bent over, painful bodies will steal your life force and leave you to decay and suffer needlessly as you age. And..we are all going to age, no matter what.
  • Develop resiliency ....it is the key to happiness and longevity. Consider a way to express the joys and sorrow of life through art, creativity, and movement. Keeping it all inside equals depression, anxiety, and premature aging.
  • Learn to be Still - the ultimate goal of the Human Restoration Project is to bring Stillness and Relaxation under your conscious control and to enjoy them often.

  • Begin to engage with The Medicine of the Future right now, don't wait until the future. The time has come, the time is now.

Relaxation

How do you relax?


Can you get there? Can you consciously - when you want to - put yourself into a state of total surrender and ease? Can you relax? 

I was such a tense teenager, and I carried that into early adulthood with insomnia, teeth clenching, headaches and tight muscles. My mind was always "on." I can still go there, and it takes practice and consistency to commit to relaxing.


 I can tell you for sure, relaxation is the single most important thing I have ever learned. The quality of my body and mind informs literally my entire life. 


Most of us have trained ourselves to re-act instantly at the least provocation, we don't really know how to dial-it -down. Unless maybe while sleeping. Although many of us need help to go to sleep (in the form of a sleeping pill or anti anxiety meds) we have lost our innate ability to rest, consciously and at will, to rest. Watch your pets...those guys know how to chill!! Let them help you, watch them and learn from them. Animals of course,  are not on the phone constantly, they are never stuck in rush hour traffic, they don't have bills to pay, kids to put through college, and any one of a myriad of other happenings of modern life, that drive us to hyper vigilance. It does not mean we should resign ourselves to lives of constant strain and weariness....no no no. 


Human systems are not meant to sustain tension and hyper vigilance over long periods of time. The bottom line is, being unable to relax wears away the central nervous system and leads to stress disorders that impede the natural flow of life through the body and mind.


One of the major foundations of The Human Restoration Project is to get serious about relaxation. To re-train the central nervous system to go from hyper alert, to calm and aware. 



The Master Elements of this practice are:

  • BREATH
  • SOUND
  • MEDITATION
  • BODY WORK
  • YOGA 
  •  ACCEPTANCE OF WHAT IS (don't worry....that one takes time do not fret at the thought of it)

The skin of our bodies touching the skin of the earth

Everything feels new again! Spring --- Greenery returning to the earth, birds singing, flowers blooming, the feeling of warm air on the skin. Have you guys ever wondered why being outside, especially after a long cold winter, makes us feel alive again? Longer days, the sun beaming down on your face, the earth coming alive...don't you just love it??

The Earth in all her magnificence has the power to restore us to a more vibrant and alive state of being, seriously this is such an excellent thing to get hip to.   


Throughout history, over hundreds and thousands of years, us humans have sat, stood, strolled and slept upon the ground - with the skin of our bodies touching the skin of the earth.


In a relative blink of an eye, modern trends have severed us from this primordial earth-charge. The earth delivers subtle energy into our bodies that is essential for thriving. Electrons, which are found in abundance upon the surface of the earth, can be disrupted within our bodies through the constant electrical currents we are bathed in while being inside our homes and offices (all of our dwellings are rigged for electricity that is emanating from behind every wall in every building we are in) 

A disrupted electron is the beginning of the inflammation cycle in human bodies. Inflammation is caused in part by "free radical" activity accumulating on a molecular level within the body. The earth's subtle energy replaces electrons  - thereby interrupting the inflammation cycle. 

In fact electrons are the neutralizing power of antioxidants. We hear a lot of talk these days about antioxidants. (literally they are the "cure" for "oxidation" or in other words "anti-oxidants.")  Antioxidants neutralize a host of destructive processes on a molecular level, that occur within our bodies as we age. There are other ways to heal oxidation but being on the earth is free, enjoyable and accessible so I figure this is a good place to start.

Earth bound contact serves as a conduit for transferring the earth's natural subtle energy into our bodies to rid us of the noise and static that bombards us every day.

My process and the inspiration for this book

The ideas within the pages of this book have been in my heart and mind for decades as I've watched health trends come and go. From almost 20 years of working with people in a therapeutic setting, and my basic love of being an avid "observer" - this book was born. 

It was so cathartic to write! It helped me get clearer about who I am and what my passions are.  Writing this book helped me see that one of my greatest passions in life is to see people restore and regain strength, health, and life purpose. Mostly because it was so important in my own life. Does that make me an evangelist?!! 

I hope people find the ideas inspiring and thought provoking and I look forward to many conversations about the concepts of RESTORING OURSELVES.  The modern world is moving ever faster, and there is only so fast the human body, mind and spirit really want to go. I stepped off and slowed down a few years ago and began to really inquire into what it would take to feel okay about that. I was tired - totally worn out.  Even though I love my work, I was spread too thin. I wanted more meaning, I wanted to slow down and be able to really be present and feel deeper meaning from life. I wanted more play time, to learn a musical instrument, and to spend a lot more time outside. I am living those dreams right now thanks to the consistent, steady steps I've taken over the past several years.

What do you want more of (or less of) in your life?

It seems to me human beings have a few similar basic desires:

*We desire health - no one wants to be unhealthy and ill

*We desire happiness - we will do most anything to feel happy &           okay

*We desire to be loved and accepted - no one wants to feel left out, disliked, or lonely

*We desire life purpose -  we want our lives to have meaning some how

So this book is a collection of well tried ideas. Each chapter has a concept to consider, questions to ask yourself, and action steps to help you get there.
